The Climate

Cortijo de la Paz is located on the tropical coast, Costa Tropical, a name that indicates that the climate here is less ordinary. In the area's many greenhouses, cucumbers and tomatoes are grown from autumn to spring, with the vast majority exported to Northern Europe. In open fields, in addition to Mediterranean plants such as citrus, almonds and pomegranates, much more exotic fruits such as avocado, mango, banana, guava, cherimoya, papaya, passion fruit, kiwi, persimmon and even pineapple are grown.

The reason for the favorable climate is that the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain massif protects against cold northerly winds and that the Mediterranean Sea contributes to the mild temperatures during the winter months.
